The Malay Mail will hit the streets as a mainstream morning national newspaper starting Jan 30, 2012.
It promises a good read, including investigative reporting on issues of concern to readers, led by its editor (news) Terence Fernandez.
In a statement today, Redberry Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Siew Ka Wei said with the revamp, The Malay Mail will “tell the story as is”.
“We want to be relevant to all Malaysians, moving forward,” he said.
In line with the new investigative and balanced reporting positioning, The Malay Mail will selectively purchase content from online providers Malaysiakini and Mole.my.
Siew said Redberry would promote The Malay Mail throughout all its channels, which includes out-of-home, retail and print.
As the exclusive concession holder for some of Klang Valley’s major highways and major Peninsular Malaysia airports, Redberry’s out-of-home solutions business, which includes Focus Media, Pointcast, MagiqAds and Meru Utama, reaches over 900,000 people every day along with millions of visitors to Malaysia every year.
The revamped newspaper will have a cover price of RM1, The Malay Mail chief executive officer Phillip Karuppiah meanwhile said.
On the print side, Redberry also has in its stable of offerings, The Malaysian Reserve, a daily business newspaper that has a partnership with the International Herald Tribune.
It also carries the Unreserved, a fortnightly glossy magazine on art, culture and lifestyle.
The Malay Mail was sold in 2009 by Media Prima Bhd to the Redberry Group, a subsidiary of the listed Ancom Bhd.
